Out of School
Activities
We can offer Archery as a part of your
schools Out Of Schools P.E. provision. With structured sessions ensuring
progression in a relaxed and fun environment and our own
Achievement Award Scheme we can help you
provide more opportunities for sporting participation across all Key
Stages.
Archery is a sport that has few boundaries when it comes to
participation. Students as young as 8 can become involved in a sport
that builds confidence and teaches self discipline. It is a
particularly effective tool for reaching students with low sporting self
esteem and those who find it difficult to get involved in mainstream
team sports.
Surveys have indicated that progress is
being made towards the achievement of the Government's school sport
Public Service Agreement Target. The target is to have increased the
percentage of 5-16 year olds who spend a minimum of two hours each week
on high quality PE and school sport to 85% by 2008.
Archery is a sport where the
success of the participants is not dependent on size or typical sporting
ability. It is also a sport that requires high levels of self-discipline
and concentration – skills that the teachers wanted to build through the
initiative.
