Back at Last

Hi all – long time no speak. Been incredibly busy with one thing or another recently and as a result have neglected you, gentle readers. Hope you haven’t missed my ramblings too much.

So – down to business. Firstly, and most importantly, I am putting together a Performance Coaching group session for Saturday 25th June in Lowestoft.
The session will run from 10am to 3pm (ish) and will be for a maximum of 6 archers. I have a couple of spare spaces if you or anyone you know would like to come along. Give me a call or drop me a mail to book your place.

Before the session you will be sent a brief questionnaire in which you will be asked to provide information about your bowstyle, current shooting level and anything you would particularly like to get out of the session or areas you would like to cover. This is to ensure I can plan and tailor the session to your needs and requirements. There will be plenty of shooting, analysis and the chance to chat with archers about issues you may have in common. Its good to chat about stuff like this and realize you are not alone!!

Each archer will leave the day with a video of his or her own shooting form and an individual action plan will be sent out following the course so you can continue with the good work.
Cost for the day will be £65 per archer.

May was a hugely busy month with sessions at a number of local primary schools, taster sessions for high schools and colleges as well as another few sessions for Optua, the organization that works with young people with physical and learning difficulties.

Feedback from students was superb but probably the best reaction was from the parents, some of whom thought that their child would never be able to hold a bow let alone load an arrow, shoot it and hit the target. Its amazing what people can do if you give them a chance.

Every session was a learning experience for me as well. Like working out that Kev will only shoot from the corner, needs his “lucky” blue arrow and his “special” bow.
Or discovering that if Seb chose 5 arrows it would be a good day but 7 meant he was not feeling very confident or happy.

Its not always the big things that are important – its about noticing the small things that makes a difference.
We have more sessions planned for later in the year and I can’t wait.

New Pay and Play sessions start at Broadland High School, Hoveton on 17th June 2010. More details to follow.
For the novice or those who just want to try the sport these are great session to “Have a Go”
For club archers they are an opportunity to get a bit more practice in with someone on hand to identify and discuss any areas for improvement.

Thats all I have time for at the moment - now off to run a free session for a local youth group, a session for a Holiday club, another for a Guide troop/pack/herd (delete as applicable) and finally a family taster session.

Will be back soon with more news about the new logo, clothing and hopefully (if it all comes off) news about exciting changes to the way we do things here at FandF.
May even post pics of the new van if you are lucky!!

Keep that shoulder down.
